Les Pétrels, based in La Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean, protects thousands of endangered petrel seabirds, which without their help would die. Young seabirds, upon leaving their burrows, look for the moon to guide them to the ocean. Instead, mistaken by city light pollution, they fall to the ground. Once grounded, petrels cannot fly back to sea by themselves, remaining vulnerable to animal attacks and unable to feed.
