Programa Tatô is a sea turtle conservation project on the island of São Tomé, West Africa. With the community at the core of their project, the team is composed of 90% nationals. They monitor and patrol the coastline and beaches to ensure up to four different species of sea turtles can lay their eggs safely, while providing alternative sources of livelihood to people who used to depend on the turtle trade.
